Description

''The Department of State Services allegedly arrested one Anthony Okolie for 10 weeks for buying and using an MTN SIM card previously used and abandoned by Hanan Buhari, the daughter of Nigerian President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).''

Anthony Okolie revealed to journalists that he lawfully bought the SIM card unknown to him who the previous owner was. Despite having a receipt for the purchase of the SIM card and all other documents pertaining to it, the DSS arrested him for using the SIM card.

Actions Taken

To seek justice, Okolie, through his lawyer, Tope Akinyode, dragged Hanan Buhari, MTN, and DSS before the Federal High Court in Asaba.

Subsequently, on Thursday, May 14, 2020, the court slammed the sum of N10m against Nigeria’s lawless secret police, Department of State Services, for illegally detaining Anthony Okolie for 10 weeks for lawfully purchasing and using a SIM card previously owned by President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter, Hanan.
