A police officer shot and killed Latifa Boukari following a complaint filed by an individual to whom Boukari allegedly owed CFA francs 30,000 ($51).
Police stated that Boukari was resisting arrest when the officer shot him.
In reaction to the killing, local residents burned alive the individual who filed the complaint with police. The police officer who killed Boukari reportedly fled Bassila following the killing.
