A clash between the Nigeria Police and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria led to several casualties, including one dead and several injured. According to Premium Times, the clash started around Tamburawa, on the outskirts of Kano city, when the police tried to stop a Shiite protest. Over a dozen people including a police officer were feared killed from the clash. In a statement posted on the website of the IMN, it was reported that the Nigeria Police attacked peaceful members of the IMN who were attending the Annual Arbaeen symbolic trekking in Nigeria. The Nigeria Police blocked the road and fired teargas and live ammunitions on the peaceful protesters. The IMN also reported that 50 of their members were arrested by the Police in connection with the Kano massacre.

According to the news reports from the website of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria on the Police-Shiites deadly clash in Kano, an 8 months old baby, Zainab and close to 100 others were killed in the deadly clash. Official reports put the number of dead, including Shiites and Policemen at 9.
