On the 22nd of August 2016, the Bring Back our Girls (BBOG) group embarked on a protest on behalf of the kidnapped Chibok girls who have been in captivity in 2014. They were, however, prevented from gaining access to the Presidential villa by the Police.
On the other hand, the police defended their action stating that the police were not interested in preventing the group from meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, but that the protest train had to be stopped to avoid rowdiness around the seat of power.
