4 Journalists Attacked in Conakry

During the day of Thursday, July 28, 2022, four (4) journalists were attacked while covering the demonstrations of the National Front for the Defense of the Constitution (FNDC). They are:

1/2-Abdallah CAMARA and Mohamed SANGARÉ of the Evasion Guinée group, attacked around 4 p.m., on the Kipé-Bambéto crossroads, not far from the US embassy in Guinea. While they were trying to reach the Bambéto roundabout, these 2 journalists were violently attacked by demonstrators who also took Sangaré's phone and tried to take his camera before being saved by other demonstrators;

3-Laafa SOW from the news site www.guineematin.com attacked around 1:30 p.m. at the Bambéto roundabout by demonstrators, some of whom openly declared: "You are the journalists we are looking for." End of quote. After losing his phone in this kind of hell on earth that he experienced while he was doing his job, he too was saved by a passing motorcyclist;

4-Algassimou BALDÉ of the   Djoma medias group. Responsible for covering the Dubréka-Sonfonia axis for his editorial staff, he was attacked at the T7 by demonstrators who   hit him several times and tried to take his bag away before being saved by other demonstrators and law enforcement officers.
