Activist Abdoulaye Ba Released
Mauritanian human rights activist Abdoulaye Ba was released on Thursday, October 2, 2025, after serving his sentence, CRIDEM has learned.
Head of immigration issues at the Initiative for the Resurgence of the Abolitionist Movement (IRA), an anti-slavery and human rights NGO, Abdoulaye Ba was arrested on April 26, 2025.
In June, he was sentenced to one year in prison, with six months suspended, for "incitement to hatred" by the criminal chamber of the Nouakchott-West court.
