Al Jazeera Journalists Arrested in Casamance and sent back to Dakar: APES denounces an obstruction of press freedom

A team from the television channel "Al Jazeera" , on a reporting mission in Casamance on the return of populations displaced by war to their villages of origin, was arrested on April 13, 2025, at Cap Skirring airport (in the Ziguinchor region) by the Police and the Gendarmerie, on the orders of the local authorities, deplores the Association of the Foreign Press in Senegal (APES). APES denounces "an unprecedented obstruction (...) to the work of a team regularly accredited to the Senegalese authorities."
