On November 29, 2023, Lamine Ouattara, a member of the Burkinabè Movement for Human and Peoples’ Rights (MBDHP), was abducted from his home in Ouagadougou by men in civilian clothes who identified themselves as members of the national intelligence services, according to the head of the MBDHP.
The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear, and his whereabouts are unknown, raising serious concerns about his safety and well-being. His abduction is part of a wider pattern of repression targeting human rights defenders, activists, and opposition voices under the current military regime.
