The former Angel FM morning show host is reported to have been arrested on the evening of Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Details of the arrest are sketchy but an associate who spoke in a video circulating on social media indicated that Okatakyie was picked up near the Kingsby Hotel at Achimota. In the video, the yet-to-be-identified man announced the arrest of the broadcaster and called for support to put pressure to put pressure on the authorities to release him.
It is not known what might have necessitated his arrest but Okatakyie has been one of the vociferous critics of President John Mahama's administration. Recently, he blasted Mahama for allowing his brother, Ibrahim Mahama, to drive the official presidential car while on a tour of the Volta Region. Also, the broadcaster took on staunch Mahama supporter and broadcaster, Kevin Taylor, in an online banter which led him to release his Master's degree semester results to prove Taylor wrong.
