In what appears to be a disturbing trend, three journalists covering the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections in Bayelsa State were assaulted, phones seized and cameras broken and prevented from carrying out their duties.
DAILY POST state correspondent, Akam James, was assaulted around the voting area while taking note of the voting processes in Ebelebiri community ward 05 unit 19.
Also beaten were the Publisher of Upfront news magazine, Princewill Sede and the managing editor, Jeany Metta.
The reporter of TVC, Mr. Joe Kunde and the cameraman, Mr. Miebi Bina were also chased out of the community.
The election which began smoothly with election materials already in place at about 8:35am, was disrupted when thugs suspected to be supporting the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, started a pandemonium following orders from a high-placed politician at the unit.
