The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged security agencies to arrest Jamilu Gwamna, the campaign coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, for allegedly threatening voters in Bolari West with violence.
According to reports, Gwamna warned parents that they would “lose their children” if they allowed them to vote for the PDP in the upcoming elections. The alleged threat has sparked outrage, with at least 200 residents signing a petition addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), demanding Gwamna’s arrest.
Speaking at the Muhammad Jubrin Barde campaign office, Ayuba Aluke, spokesman for the Gombe State PDP campaign management council, condemned the remarks, stating that such threats could disrupt the existing peace in the state.
The PDP has called on security agencies to take immediate action to prevent political violence and ensure the safety of voters ahead of the elections.
