Gilbert Bawara, the Minister of Civil Service, Labor and Social Dialogue, in a decree, excluded 137 teachers from teaching after they respected the protest movement initiated by the Togolese Teachers' Union (SET).
Professor Dodzi Komla Kokoroko, the Minister of Primary, Secondary, Technical Education and Handicrafts, had threatened, during a visit last weekend to Dapaong, a town located in the northern zone of Togo, that teachers who respected the SET strike order would be removed from teaching.
It was his colleague from the Civil Service, Labour and Social Dialogue who was responsible for carrying out the threats. Indeed, Gilbert Bawara signed a ministerial decree dismissing 137 educators who had participated in the strike of 24 and 25 March from education.
