The demonstration began on March 11, 2024, as residents took to the streets in frustration over prolonged electricity cuts. Shops were closed, and protesters armed with stones clashed with security forces patrolling the area. Amid the confrontation, an eight-year-old and a 14-year-old were fatally shot.
