Pro-government supporters and Civil Society Organizations in Edo State clashed in Edo state over the provision of bogus pension benefits to be enjoyed by past governors of Edo state and his deputy, Dr Pius Odubu by the House of Assembly. According to news reports, CSO’s in Edo State under the banner of the anti-300m protesters and Pro-government supporters clashed at the House of Assembly complex, and chased them from the complex under the presence of security operatives, with many of them scampering for the safety of their lives.
Reacting to the ugly development, the spokesperson for the Civil Society Groups, claimed that his members were attacked by thugs allegedly sponsored by the government rather than a different group of protesters. But the government denied having any link with the attack on the protesters over the “mansion bill,” and described the claim by the CSOs as malicious.
