Applications are now open into the Research and Knowledge-Building pillar of the Civic Space Resource Hub.
The CSR-Hub is a resource centre designed to strengthen the capacities of civic space actors and civil society organisations in West Africa to effectively respond to emerging and long-standing challenges to the civic space in the region, and to strategically reposition the third sector to deliver on their development objectives. The civic space in West Africa has progressively deteriorated through a combination of repressive laws, incorrect transplantation of global anti-terrorism norms, crackdowns on activists, restrictions on civil liberties and attacks on press freedom.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The research and knowledge-building program seeks to build the capacity of organisations and actors working to defend the civic space in West Africa. Borne out of the need to curate more home-grown data on the civic space and for environmental justice, this pillar focuses on building the capacity of civil society and grassroot organisations working in the subregion to conduct research and build credible evidence that can be trusted and acted upon by policy-makers, governments and corporations. Participants will be trained on writing research proposals, evidence-building, academic writing, research dissemination, mainstream technological tools for research and social research.
