''The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has stated that the intent of the House to revisit the controversial bill that seeks to regulate Non-Governmental Organisation. The speaker stated that this had become imperative due to the activities of NGOs in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria.
The said NGO bill was earlier introduced by a deceased lawmaker, Buba Jibrin. Its smooth passage was however challenge and criticized by many activists and civil society argued that the provisions of the Bill had huge potentials to clamp down on civic groups.
