''The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has stated that the intent of the House to revisit the controversial bill that seeks to regulate Non-Governmental Organisation. The speaker stated that this had become imperative due to the activities of NGOs in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria.

The said NGO bill was earlier introduced by a deceased lawmaker, Buba Jibrin. Its smooth passage was however challenge and criticized ‎by many activists and civil society argued that the provisions of the Bill had huge potentials to clamp down on civic groups.
