An ATV Ghana reporter, Vida Wiafe, was injured after being struck with pepper spray deployed by police at a polling station, according to footage posted online by Metro TV Ghana.
The incident occurred amid unrest at the station, where police officers attempted to control the situation. The video shows Wiafe reeling after being hit by the spray, though it remains unclear whether she was deliberately targeted.
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) noted that it could not confirm if the attack was intentional, but emphasized that the use of force against journalists threatens their safety and undermines press freedom.
