In the commune of Djidja, specifically in Agouna, activists of the Democrats (LD) party were preparing to hold a demonstration when the police intervened. Asked about the reason for the presence of the police, the Prefect of Zou, Firmin Kouton, questions the procedure that led to the organization of the said demonstration.
According to Prefect Firmin Kouton, this is a "sudden gathering" whose organization did not follow the rules in this area. "When you gather people abruptly to hold a demonstration, we cannot authorize you. You have the obligation to inform the administration which takes the measures to secure the place" he explained to the microphone of Bip radio.
According to the prefect, the organizers of the demonstration did not receive formal authorization. According to him, the document they waved when the police arrived was a fake document. "The document is not registered anywhere. We searched everywhere, there was no request registered at the municipal administration level ," the prefect said.
The prefect explained that the document held by the protest organizations was signed by the second deputy mayor of the commune of Djidja. A strange fact for Firmin Kouton who is surprised by the actions of this elected official.
