    Description

Michael Gbagbo, the son of Côte d’Ivoire’s ex-president, was fined sentenced to jail for a 2016 interview, in which he claimed that a large number of people were still in jail or missing following the 2010-2011 unrest when his father would not accept presidential defeat. His charge was “complicity in disclosing false news”. The director of Koaci.com, the platform that hosted the interview, was also fined. The charges concerned the dissemination of false news.
