On November 10 2015, Governor Nyesom Wike banned protests by ‘some unauthorised group’ calling for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Pro-Biafra group, Nnamdi Kanu.
The Governor, in a state broadcast, banned all forms of street protests, demonstrations, rallies or unlawful gatherings associated with the agitations for the secession of any group from the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He equally ordered the arrest and prosecution of Biafra protesters.
