Description

The Guinea-Bissau government suspended the broadcasts of Portuguese state television and radio stations, blaming Portugual’s lack of adherence to media agreements between it and Guinea-Bissau, such as failure to “train Guinea-Bissau journalists and broadcast technicians”.

Nevertheless, it is suspected that the suspension corresponds with President José Mário Vaz’s government’s desire to disrupt any media that may “share the views of the Portuguese government”.
