Civil Society activist Nouhou Arzika was arrested and detained at the Criminal Investigation Department for allegedly breaching national security. His arrest and detention was likely a result of a TV interview in which he condemned the “poor conditions” of Nigerien soldiers fighting Boko Haram in Diffa Region, which borders Nigeria.
