Members of the Nigeria Labor Congress in Ebonyi state were beaten up by policemen for embarking on the NLC organized protest against fuel price increment by the federal government. Newspaper reported noted that the Police teargassed the workers ceaselessly and beat up leaders of the union including the state chairman, Ikechukwu Nwafor, who rolled on the ground as the police officers kicked and beat him. According to the Police, the protesters did not obtain clearance to embark on their protest, a claim which the state NLC leader, Mr Nwafor denied.
