    Description

Ahead of the Rivers re-run election, operatives of the State Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) began mass arrests of members of the opposition PDP in Rivers state. According to a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the State PDP Chairman, Jerry Needam, the statement read that said Hon. Bekanwa and other members of the party still at large were arrested on Thursday, 8th December by men of the State Anti-Robbery Squad, popularly called SARS. The Rivers state leadership of the PDP believe that the mass arrest of its members by the State Security Unit is orchestrated by the ruling All Progressive Congress stalwarts in the state ahead of the re-run election in the state.
