A Daily Trust Journalist was attacked by armed thugs in the presence of Governor Tanko AlMakura, just as the governor was taking his oath of office during his inauguration ceremony on May 29, 2015. Hir Joseph had reportedly written articles perceived to be critical of the Governor, a reason for his attack and harassment. One of his articles was said to have questioned the relevance of Nassarawa state in the political laboratory of the ruling party and the national government.
