Togo: 9 Political Opposition Party Dynamique Mgr Kpodzro (DMK) Officials Arrested

In Togo, the Faure Gnassingbé regime will stop at nothing to suppress dissenting voices who dare to challenge the constitutional coup d'état carried out on March 25 in the National Assembly by deputies whose mandate expired on December 31, 2023. Members of the Dynamique Mgr Kpodzro (DMK) have just paid the price.

There were a total of 9 members of the Dynamique Mgr Kpodzro (DMK) arrested this Wednesday by the soldiers of the Faure Gnassingbé regime. These opponents were arrested just for daring to denounce the famous new constitution that came into being during a night session on March 25 in the hemicycle.

According to Thomas N'soukpoè, spokesperson for the DMK, a first group of members of this group was arrested on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Akodésséwa market, in Gulf 1, while they were raising awareness among the population to say "No" to the new constitution proposed by the regime. They were unfolding a banner when they were arrested.

The second group was arrested at night from the house of DMK vice-president Ms Amouzou while they were discussing strategies to secure the release of their already detained comrades.

Among these 9 DMK activists arbitrarily arrested are Paul Missiagbéto, Mrs. Alouzou, Mrs. Batale Véronique, Togbonous Espoir, Sodjavi Silvère, Wolou Obi, Soussoukpo Désiré, Adjossou Louis, and Kolani Douti.

They were transferred on the night of April 3 to the Central Intelligence and Criminal Investigation Service (SCRIC), and they are being denied the right to visits.
