Togolese Journalists Loic Lawson and Anani Sossou Jailed following Minister’s Complaint

Placed in police custody for several days, the two journalists, Loïc Lawson and Innocent Sossou, have just been taken to prison after their appearances before the prosecutor.

The two journalists were summoned on Monday November 13, 2023, following a complaint from the Minister of State, Adedze Kodjo, in the case of the theft of money from one of the latter's houses.

In publications made by the two journalists on social media, a large sum was allegedly stolen from one of the minister's houses.

A few hours before responding to their summons to the BIS, the two, in other publications, announced that they had overestimated the amount stolen.

According to corroborating sources, the two were deposited at the Lomé civil prison on the evening of Tuesday, November 14,

They are accused, according to information, of spreading false information and inciting revolt.
